I have been creating websites personally since 1999, and professionally since 2004. I am drawn to web development because of the unique combination of technology, design, art, and communication. To date I am completely self taught and look forward to further challenges and opportunities that await the growth of the web (particularly the mobile web). I am proficient in standards based web development (XHTML/CSS), and code with an attention to simplicity, accessibility, and forward–compatibility. I also have an intermediate knowledge of PHP/MySQL which I have used to provide visitor registration and user based content editing for my freelance work.

- advocacydays.org – Developed standards based site and PHP/MySQL registration database (for 2006 site) to support the Ecumenical Advocacy Days advocacy and lobbying conference
- rickwhiteheadguitar.com – Developed standards based XHTML/CSS template built over a customized Wordpress blogging CMS for the Rick Whitehead Jazz Trio

Duke Law School – Web Editor
Durham, NC // August 2005 - June 2007
Ranked by U.S. News and World Reports as one of the top 10 law schools in the country, Duke Law School prides itself on being a leader in information technology within the legal profession. Notably, it was the first law school to publish all of its academic journals for free via the web. The most significant work during my time at Duke involved our team effort of migrating the entire 3,000+ page site to table-less standards compliance (XHTML 1.0 strict). I also enjoyed opportunities to speak at several law/web related conferences. Specific projects included
- Converted homepage, third tier, and clinic page templates to meet standards requirements
[note: some content applications are still being updated and may currently be producing code that no longer validates] - Reduced homepage file size by over 50%
- Created Wordpress based blog for Duke Law & Technology Review law.duke.edu/journals/dltr/iblawg/ which was awarded "Notable Universal Design" for accessibility by Accessites.org
- Designed promotional materials (posters, postcards, print ads) for Bound By Law?, a comic about documentary film and copyright law
- Added accessibility and usability features to several highly trafficked pages such as Faculty Scholarship
- Received "Best in Track" award for presentating: "Understanding Fair Use," at the 2006 Higher Education Web Developers Conference

Shade Tree Coffee is an upscale specialty coffee and espresso shop that places a considerable emphasis on its high standards for espresso/coffee based drinks and a strong level of customer service.

ThornCreek Church – Pastor of Worship and Music
Denver, CO // February 2003 – May 2004
ThornCreek Church (Nazarene) was a church plant started on Easter Sunday 2003. Primary responsibilities involved initiating a music ministry and equipping team members to serve the church through worship.
- Ensured worship services were creative, dynamic, and professional
- Initiated a vocalist/musician recruitment strategy that grew the volunteer team from an initial 3 members to 17 members in 7 months
- Offered drum, guitar and vocal coaching to volunteer musicians
- Providing Pastoral care to church members

Young Life is a 50+ year old para-church program that ministers to high school and junior high students through intentional discipling relationships. Our team began with 10 committed high school students and saw as many as 45.
Harvest Farm – Summer Intern
Wellington, CO // Summer 1999
Harvest Farm is a rehabilitation facility for approximately 40-60 men who have determined to overcome their personal addictions. Intern responsibilities included exposure to all aspects of the program and to facilitate events with visiting student groups.
